14 Mar ALD Lighting Solutions revolutionises illumination into art
ALD Lighting has been revolutionising the private and commercial illumination industry for close to 30 years.
Dean Murphy has been in the business for over 23 years and as Managing Director at ALD Lighting he has helped shape the way his company has adapted to the new trends and concepts that predominate in the lighting industry.
“Lighting has come a very long way this last 10 years and today the installation of lighting has become more and more an artistic form of expression that blends in with the architectural construction of buildings,” Mr Murphy explains.
“At ALD we have narrowed lighting down to two main objectives: the more practical side of lighting aimed at the commercial, Industrial, Leisure sector, and the more comprehensive design for Schools, Universities, Hotels, and many others that also have special or certain bespoke requirements.”
It’s important to understand that there is no single lighting solution for every home and every business or school or government building, factors that very few take into consideration when designing a lighting project detailed to the specific requirements of each of our clients.
Mr Murphy also highlights the importance of LED lighting and how it’s currently one of the main trends that are defining his business.
“Eighty to 90 percent of all lighting projects today involve LED luminaires because they are getting extremely efficient in every aspect as compared to conventional lighting. Basically, more lumens, fewer watts, cheaper energy bills.”
In a world where we all are becoming ever so more conscious about the environment, ALD prides itself in pushing more and more in favour of LED lighting because of its ecological benefits.
LED is still developing and quickly, Dean says. “New generations of LEDs are being created as we speak and their innovations are aimed at more lumens per watt and better CRI.”
Exciting times are also already here regarding new technologies that combine Artificial Intelligence with smart LED lighting in what is being dubbed as Active Lighting.
Big spaces such as malls, public, government and business buildings, schools and universities, as well as hospital, will all soon be benefiting from remote computerised lighting control systems to optimise their consumption and efficiency being monitored through easy to use applications and the cloud.
The Active Lighting will also save hugely in public areas were some luminaires will no longer be simply hooked up to sensors.
“Active control systems will have integrated an artificial intelligence element to them which means that lights will turn on before you enter a dark area as the automated controls will predict where you are headed,” Dean announces.
ALD Lighting is a forward thinking and innovative company that has delivered quality lighting schemes with many notable projects they worked on are the Wembley Park Station, the Yehudi Menuhin School and Getty Images. Currently, ALD is working on a two-floor car park in Chichester, a county town in West Sussex, that will undoubtedly be one of a kind as it is integrating Bluetooth mesh technology to their Ventnor range linear IP65 & Antsy range surface IP65 bulkhead will be controlled via Bluetooth gateways and mobile application, all data received from the gateways will be stored via the cloud allowing the end user to draw down the sites performance data.
