Founded in 1955 in Switzerland, Opetelma have developed a high quality and extensive range of products and services. With a dedicated design team they are able to offer a free lighting design service for projects.
Over the years the company have built partnerships across the globe to ensure the highest quality in their performance. They manufacture all extruded linear systems – both standard and custom – in the factory in Somerset. Their Swiss factory manufacturers their high performance downlights and spotlights. They also have a 25 year partnership with French plaster manufacturer, Atelier Sedap and Lightnet, a German manufacturer who Optelma has collaborated with since 2010. In order to build and maintain these relationships Optelma have worked hard to innovate and improve through the industry demands.
To ensure the project is completed to a high standard, Optelma offer after sales support. The team can assist with installation, maintenance, warranty or answer any technical questions. From concept right through until delivery, Optelma work closely with designers, architects and specifiers to ensure the end result is the best one, bringing ideas to life through each project.
Some of these projects include:
WESTERN TRANSIT SHED
Western Transit Shed, headquarters of Hoare Lea Lighting, won both the ‘Workplace Lighting’ and ‘Low Carbon’ Awards at the Lighting Design Awards 2014. The scheme uses Optelma linear systems like Quad and Tatoo to provide direct ambient light complemented by RGBW indirect lighting, with Stretch Ceilings creating a daylit feel and spacious environment in meeting rooms.
THE NATIONAL THEATRE BOOKSHOP
Working with into lighting and Lumsden Design, Optelma created a lighting scheme for a retail space showcasing the National Theatre’s gift range and extensive collection of books. The solution utilised Optelma’s made-to-measure profile Quad 62 in an anodised black finish, with an asymmetric diffuser to help wash the 20 metre wall of bookshelves and dark oak interior.
Birmingham’s flagship Bose Sound store utilises Xicato XSM LED sources to capture the colourful graphics and products throughout the store. Optelma’s lighting design team used Kege adjustable gimbled downlights to provide an adaptable general lighting scheme with a high colour rendering index, ensuring a quality visual experience.
